Young Farmers Crew

The Young Farmers Crew is a paid immersive program for young adults 14-19 who are currently enrolled in high school. 

We are looking for motivated young adults interested in learning more about growing food, building community, and changing the food system!

To Apply - Applicants Must:

  • Be 14-19 years old

  • Be willing and able to work outside in varying weather conditions, comfortably bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting 20-30 lbs

  • Have reliable transportation to arrive on-time to work

  • Be able to commit to the entire program

    • Spring - SATURDAYS ONLY (March 28th-May 30th, 2020)

    • Summer (June 15th-August 21st, 2020)

    • Fall - SATURDAYS ONLY (October 10th-December 19th 2020)

  • Complete a phone/in-person interview with Bright Spot Farms

  • Provide all documentation listed in the applicant checklist below

** Opportunities to work during the week in the spring and fall for students who have co-op work options through their schools **

** We fund our students through a number of different private and public funding sources. Some of our sources have income qualifications in order to help create job opportunities for those youth who are in the most financial need. We will consider all students who apply but try to give preference to those who income qualify first. Please check the income guidelines for where you live if you are unsure if you income qualify.

Sometimes it can take time to pull together the documents needed to start our program if you are accepted. To help you get a head start, we have attached a checklist and all the documents we will require so you can start to collect them once you apply. Students who are re-applying to continue participating during the same calendar year DO NOT NEED to provide income documents again.

Once you have been interviewed, you will be e-mailed a secure link through which your files can be uploaded directly. If uploading files, please be sure to take clear pictures/scans of your documents. You can also arrange with us to bring in your documents in-person.

Bright Spot Farms is a program of the West End Neighborhood House
