Bright Spot Farms CSA Program

Sorry we are Sold Out of our Summer Shares!!

Thank you for your support!

What is Community Supported Agriculture?

A CSA is a farm membership in which members share in the bounty (and risk) of the farm. When we have a great season, you have a great season!

Members support the farm by paying for their share upfront at the beginning of the season. In return, each week they get to make their share from a selection of seasonal vegetables harvested by the farmers!

Each week's share contains a variety of seasonal veggies grown on the farm and includes a recipe sheet!

Why become a member of Bright Spot's CSA?

Bright Spot Farms is a program of the West End Neighborhood House. We provide work-study agricultural training to young adults 14-24 at our 2-acre farm on the Delaware State Hospital Herman Holloway Campus in New Castle, DE.

We believe in the power of farming to transform people through building confidence and fostering leadership. Our objective is to heal and empower the young people in our program by rooting our farming in an ethic of community service.

Your support as a member of our CSA will allow us to put more time and resources into our youth leadership programs. As a member of our "farmily" you will also be invited to our annual harvest potluck, which is a great opportunity to meet the farmers. And you will always be welcome to come visit the farm and see where and how your food is grown!

How does it work?

Every week farm members pick up a pre-packed box of seasonal vegetables at their pick-up location. We currently offer pick-up at the following locations:

Herman Holloway (farm): Wednesdays 1-5 PM

West End Neighborhood House: 1-5 PM (West End Staff Only during COVID)

We are also offering HOME DELIVERY again for 2021 for those who need it. Home deliveries will be on Wednesday mornings and are available for New Castle County, DE only. For 2021 there will be a $25 delivery fee for the season (24 deliveries).

In addition, farm members receive a weekly e-mail letting them know what will be in their share, updates from the farm, and a suggested recipe that uses vegetables from their share!

How much does it cost?

2021 Summer CSA:

The 2021 Summer CSA will span 24 weeks from Wednesday May 19th through Wednesday October 27th.

  • Full shares cost $750 for 24 weeks of produce (8-10 types of veggies/week). This works out to $31.25/week! Ideal for a family, or a couple that eat a lot of veggies.

  • Half shares cost $4oo for 24 weeks of produce (4-6 types of veggies/week). This works out to about $17/week! Ideal for a solo veggie lover or a couple, or a family wishing to supplement with local veggies.

  • SLIDING SCALE: For 2021 we are offering our shares on a sliding scale to allow more families to access our produce! We believe our prices to be fair and competitive prices ot the supermarket, but also know that many of our community members may need extra support to afford fresh produce. We are able to do this through generous contributions from individuals and through grants. If you want to get a CSA share on a sliding scale, please select sliding scale when you fill out the form and we will contact you to set a price for your share and to send you a payment link. We will continue to offer sliding scale shares as long as funds are available.

All payments are due by May 1st, 2021. Payments can be made 2 ways:

1) Payment in full by May 1st, 2021

2) Payment in 2 installments: 1st installment by April 1st, 2021, and 2nd installment by May 1st, 2021

We can also create customized payment plans if needed - please let us know if you want to discuss a customized payment plan!

We accept payment by check (preferred) or by card.

Checks should be made out to Bright Spot Ventures and mailed to 710 N. Lincoln St. Wilmington, DE 19805 with the Memo Line "CSA Payment". Please include a copy of this form with your payment for reference.
