CSA Program

What is Community Supported Agriculture?

A CSA is a farm membership in which members share in the bounty (and risk) of the farm. When we have a great season, you have a great season!

Members support the farm by paying for their share upfront at the beginning of the season. In return, each week they get to make their share from a selection of seasonal vegetables harvested by the farmers!

Each week's share contains a variety of seasonal veggies grown on the farm and includes a recipe sheet!

Why become a member of Bright Spot's CSA?

Bright Spot Farms is a program of the West End Neighborhood House. We provide work-study agricultural training to young adults 14-18 at our 3-acre farm on the State of Delaware Herman Holloway Campus in New Castle, DE.

We believe in the power of farming to transform people through building confidence and fostering leadership. Our objective is to heal and empower the young people in our program by rooting our farming in an ethic of community service.

Your support as a member of our CSA will allow us to put more time and resources into our youth leadership programs.

And you will always be welcome to come visit the farm and see where and how your food is grown!

How does it work?

Every week farm members pick up a pre-packed box of seasonal vegetables at their pick-up location. We currently offer pick-up at the following locations:

Herman Holloway Campus (Bright Spot Farm): Wednesdays 1-5 PM

West End Neighborhood House: Wednesdays 1-5 PM

We are also offering HOME DELIVERY again for 2024 for those who need it. Home deliveries will be on Wednesday mornings and are available for New Castle County, DE only.  $25 delivery fee for the season (22 deliveries).

In addition, farm members receive a weekly e-mail letting them know what will be in their share, updates from the farm, and a suggested recipe that uses vegetables from their share!

How much does it cost?

Our Summer 2024 CSA Program will span 22 weeks, from Wednesday, May 22nd to  Wednesday, October 16th. We offer both a Full Share and a Half Share!

Full Share Cost - $750

Half Share Cost - $400

Full Shares are ideal for a family or a couple that are heavy vegetable eaters. Each share will contain a value of $34 for 22 weeks. (8-11 items/share)

Half Shares are ideal for the solo heavy vegetable eater or a couple, or a small family looking to supplement their local produce intake. Each share will have a value of approximately $18 for 22 weeks. (5-7 items/share)

SLIDING SCALE - We will be offering our shares on a sliding scale to allow more families to access our produce! We believe our prices to be fair and competitive prices to the supermarket, but also know that many of our community members may need extra support to afford fresh produce. We are able to do this through generous contributions from individuals and funders. If you need assistance, please select "sliding scale" and we will contact you to set a price for your share and to send you a payment link. We will continue to offer sliding scale shares as long as funds are available.

Produce included throughout the season will include but not limited to:

Salad Greens

Bunching Greens

Root Vegetables (Carrots, Radishes, Turnips, Beets)

Summer Favorites (Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant)

Melons

Cucumbers & Zucchini

Peas & Beans

Onions

Herbs

& more!

We accept payment by check or by card. All payments are due by May 1st.

Checks should be made out to Bright Spot Ventures and mailed to 710 N. Lincoln St. Wilmington, DE 19805 with the Memo Line "2023 Summer CSA Payment".
