Summer Internship Program

Bright Spot Farms accepts 2-3 interns from June-August each year. Interns work alongside supervisors and trainees at the farm or on other horticultural projects. Our internship hours are typically Mon-Fri 7AM-1PM (there is some flexibility if needed). Interns are encouraged to ask questions, participate in horticultural classes provided on-site, and borrow available learning materials. Internships are unpaid through Bright Spot Farms; however, we encourage interns to pursue funding independently through other programs, such as the UD Service Learning Scholar program, and we are happy to provide documentation as needed. Interested interns are welcome to develop a relevant project with the assistance of the program director that can be used to meet funding and/or academic research goals.

TO APPLY:

BSF accepts interns from a variety of fields of study – prior agricultural/horticultural experience is preferred but not required. However, all interns will mostly be working at the farm, so an interest in local food systems and sustainable agriculture is helpful, and a positive attitude and willingness to work hard in all weather conditions is a MUST.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through February 16th. Interested applicants should e-mail brightspotventures@gmail.com with the subject line “Interested in summer internship.” Please attach your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you are interested in our program. We will contact you to schedule a follow-up interview. If you have questions, please send them to the same e-mail or call 302-255-2993 and leave us a voicemail with your contact information.
